Akira The Don has been my favourite musical and lyrical artist for some years now and today I'd like to share this Great British talent with you.

Although this guy hasn't entered the Britains Got Talent 2008 competition, if he did, he would win it hands-down.

What I like most about Akira ( real name Adam Donovan ), is the fact that he writes, produces and promotes all of his stuff himself, with a great degree of success. He is, in my opinion, probably one of the most talented ' back-room ' artists to emerge and grace our land in a long time.

Akira's song ' Oh! (What A Glorious Thing) ' has been used in two films - My Super Ex-Girlfriend and In The Hands Of God (a flick about football) - and he has also worked with, collaborated with and helped to produce music for some of my other favourite UK artists - including Big Nartsie, Mothboy, Swiss and Lethal Bizzle.

What I also like about Akira The Don and what I think seperates him from most others out there, is his dedication to and the love he shares with his growing fan-base. It's not unusual to find an origianl Akira-scribled doodle or some of his hand-written lyrics tucked inside the sleeve of his CDs (of which I own many). I know that these treasured little gifts will be selling for a fortune on sites like E-Bay in years to come - I'm banking on it to provide me with a healthy pension when I'm old and decrepid.

As well as keeping it real and personal with the fans who buy his CDs, most of Akira's stuff is also available as free downloadable mp3s on his website - a very nice touch for the cheap, greedy or the fans on state benefits. This guy deserves a Sainthood... really!!!
